Hello and welcome back to another instalment of Webisoda’s weekly updates. We have a lot to cover this week so let us get right to it!
First of all, global news. American supreme court just overturned the abortion rights of women- Roe v/s Wade this weekend. Protests were sparked all over the country over this very controversial conservative move and there is a panic among women in the US concerning their reproductive rights. There are a lot of states which are using their legislative power to oppose these moves and a lot of helplines and big corporations that stand in support of women who want to opt for abortions and reproductive care. But this move does set back the US democracy by around 50 years. This mandate also creates dreaded anticipation for more conservative reforms in the future against same-sex marriage and other LGBTQ+ mandates. For more information on this issue, you can watch documentaries like ‘Reversing Roe’ on Netflix, and the movie ‘Roe V Wade’ on Apple TV.
Now in the world of entertainment, Johnny Depp has just been offered more than 3000 crore rupees in remuneration as part of Disney’s effort to make amends with the actor after they dropped him from the Pirates of the Caribbean series in the advent of his domestic violence lawsuit against Amber Heard. While fans across the world ardently hope that their beloved actor returns to the franchise to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, Depp did mention in his hearing that he won’t return to the series even if Disney offers him $300 million and a million alpacas! Would you like to see him back as the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow?
Next, the world sits in anticipation of Marvel Studios’ release of Thor Love and Thunder. The movie is set to premiere on 7th July and will mark the return of Chris Hemsworth in his most famous role yet as Thor Odinson. This will also mark the second collaboration of director Taika Waititi with Hemsworth. Thor 4 is one of the most anticipated releases of MCU’s phase 4 after Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Are you excited? Movie pre-bookings are open now!

Life Navrangi is a web series set in the small town of Bapu Nagar, filled with unique characters chasing their dreams. The underlying aim of the story is to bring water pollution and management to the forefront and they do it using a fictional monster Malasur. Quite the quirk, right? Maa Neella Tank: This Telugu web series takes place in a small town and is a whirlwind of comedy, politics and romance. A politician’s son threatens to kill himself if the love of his life doesn’t return to him. With the election season coming close, the politician instructs a police officer to hunt down this girl and bring her back. What will be the outcome of this twisted tale? Watch on ZEE5 on July 15th!
Miya Biwi Aur Murder: Miya Biwi Aur Murder is a crime-thriller series on MX Player. Rajeev Khandelwal and Manjri Fadnnis play the role of a dysfunctional couple whose marriage is reaching its drab end when a bunch of dead bodies and murder make their way into the couple’s lives. How will they navigate through this fiasco with their backs to the wall?
