Jigna Vora, much like Jagruti, was a crime reporter who faced accusations of murdering another journalist named Jyotirmoy Dey back in 2011.

Jyotirmoy Dey, a well-known crime and investigations editor for the Indian tabloid newspaper Mid-Day, was pursuing a story on the black market oil trade when tragedy struck. On June 11, 2011, he was ambushed by four men on motorcycles who mercilessly shot him multiple times. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Dey succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a void in investigative journalism.

The aftermath of Dey’s tragic death led to the arrest of the gunmen, who were associated with underworld gangster Chhota Rajan. However, investigations also pointed towards Jigna Vora’s involvement in the crime. It was alleged that Vora had provided Rajan with crucial information, including Dey’s home address and license plate number. Additionally, she faced accusations of destroying evidence. The motive behind the crime was believed to be a rivalry between Vora and Dey as journalists.

In 2011, Vora was arrested, and the legal battle that followed lasted seven long years. However, in a turn of events, she was eventually acquitted of all charges. Now, Netflix has taken inspiration from these real events to create a television series that sheds light on Jigna Vora’s extraordinary story.
